I enjoyed (and was good at) two things at school. Maths and physics. I decided to do maths at university. I did a joint degree in applied maths and statistics. I was better at statistics so went this route. I really enjoyed being at uiniversity and was quite good at the topic so went on to do a PhD. I then had to get a job (couldn’t study for ever) so wanted one that used what I had studies – statistics. There were lots of options. I started in agrochemicals and ended up in pharmaceuticals. I enjoy using statistics to help find new medicines.
I do wonder if I would have made a good physicist though!
